Nice vs. Olympique Lyon

Having pulled off one of the results of the week in beating Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday, they looked far from being one of Europe's élite clubs as they were completely outclassed on the south coast.

Rémy Vercoutre, given a first start of the season in place of the injured Hugo Lloris, had already been forced into a fine stop to fend away a Julien Sablé free-kick before the OL number two was picking the ball out of his net on 17 minutes.

Former OL starlet Rémy was at the heart of the opener, easing past Aly Cissokho before crossing for Mamadou Bagayoko to head the hosts ahead.

Good as Vercoutre had been in the opening stages, the long-serving back-up keeper was at fault as Nice doubled their advantage five minutes before the break. Rémy again proved a massive thorn in his former club's side, rounding Jérémy Toulalan before seeing his cross slip through Vercoutre's fingers and into the net.

The half-time interval failed to halt Nice's momentum, though they had to wait until 22 minutes from time to grab a third their play deserved.

David Hellebuyck, who had seen a low drive flash just wide of the target early in the second half, latched onto a through ball from ex-Lyon man Anthony Mounier before firing past Vercoutre.

Sidney Govou then struck the woodwork for the visitors, but the seven-time champions were to suffer further humiliation as Rémy broke from a Lyon free-kick and sped past Jean II Makoun before rounding Vercoutre to claim his side's fourth.

Ederson scored against his former side to give the visitors scant consolation six minutes from time, but Nice - who lost 4-1 to Lorient in Week 9 - had already done more than enough to claim a second win in three and inflict a second successive reverse on Lyon.
