Tavano curled a right-foot strike just over the bar, but Douglas Maicon killed off the game. He surged forward on the counter through the centre and relatively undisturbed prodded into the bottom near corner with the front of his boot.

Livorno did not give in and Julio Cesar again had his palm stung by a Candreva free kick.
